Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 3 Brigade, operating under Operation MESA, have rescued a kidnapped victim in Kano State and recovered ₦10 million reportedly paid as ransom.

The rescue operation took place in Falgore Forest, Doguwa Local Government Area, following the abduction of Alhaji Kabiru Aliyu on October 11, 2026.

According to the Army, Aliyu was kidnapped around midnight at Fanyabo village while returning from Yandoka Market in neighbouring Kaduna State.

The abductors later contacted his family in Yan Taburmi village and demanded ransom for his release.

Acting on intelligence, troops collaborated with the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS) and local hunters to launch an operation against the suspected kidnappers.

The operation reportedly led to the rescue of Aliyu and the killing of two suspected kidnappers, while other members of the gang escaped into the forest.

A subsequent search of the area led to the recovery of ₦10 million reportedly paid by the victim’s family. The Army said the money was returned to Aliyu and his family.

The Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, 3 Brigade, Major Babatunde Zubairu, disclosed the development in a statement.

The Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Saka Jimoh, commended the troops and other security personnel involved in the operation.

He also urged residents to provide credible information to security agencies to support efforts to combat kidnapping and other criminal activities in the state.
