President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved an 18-month extension of the tenures of the heads of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS).

The extension will allow Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Kemi Nanna Nandap, to remain in office until June 30, 2028, while Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche, will serve until May 26, 2028.

The development was announced on Monday, October 19, 2026, by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.

According to the presidential statement, the approval followed a recommendation by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

The extension is intended to address succession gaps in both agencies and give their respective boards sufficient time to identify and appoint successors.

President Tinubu also commended the two officials for the reforms recorded under their leadership and urged them to consolidate the gains made in their respective services.
