The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the distribution of non-sensitive election materials to some states ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.

INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, disclosed this on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, during a national stakeholders’ meeting held in Abuja to mark 100 days to the 2027 elections.

Amupitan said some states had already started receiving non-sensitive materials, while procurement for the printing of ballot papers and result sheets was nearing completion.

He also disclosed that production of 57,000 new Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) devices was at an advanced stage.

According to him, the commission is also receiving new operational vehicles, while construction work, BVAS storage facilities, Local Government Area offices and renovations of INEC offices are progressing across the country.

INEC’s official timetable schedules the presidential and National Assembly elections for January 16, 2027, while the governorship and State House of Assembly elections are scheduled for February 6, 2027.

The commission said the ongoing preparations are aimed at ensuring that logistics, technology and other electoral arrangements are in place ahead of the polls.
