Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has held a closed-door meeting with a member of the House of Representatives, Kabiru Alhassan Rurum, at the Kano State Government House.

The meeting, which took place on Wednesday night, reportedly lasted for nearly two hours. Rurum was accompanied by the Director-General of the National Productivity Centre, Baffa Babba Dan’agundi.

According to reports, the two visitors arrived at the Government House at about 10:30 p.m. and proceeded to the governor’s office for the private discussion.

The specific issues discussed during the meeting were not publicly disclosed.

The meeting has attracted attention because it came amid ongoing tensions surrounding the Kano Emirate and recent developments concerning restrictions on Durbar processions and horse-riding activities in Kano metropolis.

When contacted, Rurum neither confirmed nor denied the meeting. He reportedly asked whether it was wrong for him to meet with the governor, whom he described as his friend, brother and political leader.

Dan’agundi also acknowledged the meeting but declined to reveal details, describing the discussion as a “family affair.”

As of the time of publication, neither Rurum nor Dan’agundi had disclosed the outcome or specific details of the discussion.
